We practiced... and trust me, a no-teeth smile works best for this guy. Seriously how handsome is he???

She wanted "circles" in her hair. I thought I would go a different route than sleeping in braids and had her sleep in twists... bad idea. Turned out to be frizz instead of circles, but she LOVED it... wondering what this year's pics will turn out like... instructed to keep her hair behind her shoulders and to NOT let the picture people comb her hair!!!

This one wanted in on the fun, although the pictures when I took the sippy cup away after this shot resulted in tears and a look of HOW DARE YOU take that away from me...

We have only had one game so far, and last Saturday our game was cancelled due to lightening! Crazy!! I am loving our (almost entire) Saturdays spent at the field waiting for each game to start (because of course why would we be lucky enough to have back to back games). I may just be more excited than the two of them combined, but I am sure they will love it as much as I do, right??!?! Oh no... am I that mom forcing my has-been passion on my kids??

So... if this picture doesn't break your heart, you OBVIOUSLY don't know or remember how LONG and THICK those eyelashes... WERE !!!

Picked up this handsome man from school today and the FIRST thing I noticed were those short, crooked lashes.... Let's just say I probably guilted him into never using scissors again! When I asked him why he did it, all he could come up with is that "they weren't perfect" - and then he hid his eyes for the next 10 minutes or so... poor kid.

I know they will grow back... over time. There are probably even some who would want what he has left, but his LASHES rocked the house.

Here is to hoping they grow back thicker and longer!!!

A few of our FAVORITES

In a few weeks the twins will be 6 (whaaaat!?) and I wanted to remember some of their favorite things at what has been my favorite age. I limited it to the top 3... so here we go.

MR. V

So, my kids still have a "bunkie" - don't judge. It is a SERIOUS security blanket for Mr. V, and I am pretty sure that Pie Girl still likes hers because Mr. V is so attached to his. So first thing on Mr. V's list... his Bunkie. We retire it during the day, which is a battle, and every chance he gets he grabs for it. He will even go to his bed during the day and "spend time" with it... regroup, and then go on with playing. Ok... I know, judge me if you want.

Another favorite right now... RACE CARS! Hot wheels, race cars on you tube, Daddy drawing race cars, V. drawing race cars (which he is pretty good at), race cars drifting, race car spoilers, mufflers, and wheels. This is great for us, #1 because if you know Jeff at all you know that this is a love of his... so quite the male bonding for this father and son team. #2 hot wheels are $1 (where the train obsession cost us a small fortune). #3 it is quite amazing to be driving down the street and hear him in the back of the car saying.. "Mustang.... Corvette... Scion... Mitsubishi Lancer Evo... Dodge Charger.. Mini Cooper... " etc. etc... He calls them as he sees them.

The last favorite goes without saying for most of you... OCEAN life (mostly whales and sharks). We have a serious oceanographer on our hands.

PIE GIRL

Pie Girl's list is a little different... Her favorite toys are probably stuffed animals, but notice the "probably" there. If, for some reason, the kids get to pick out a toy at the store I have to be prepared for a major decision making process to occur for this little girl. She has the HARDEST time deciding... not because she has so many things to choose from, but rather that she isn't in to toys. This makes for a bitter sweet situation... bitter because it is always sooo hard for her to decide (it is so hard for her that I sadly try to limit the "pick out a toy" situation), sweet because she makes for the BEST play mate because she will play whatever YOU want to play with. This makes for a great situation with twins because she is always willing to play race cars, whales, or trains! Another thing that plays into this is that the first thing on this "favorites" list would be REAL animals/pets IF (and a huge gigantic IF) we had any. If you ask her what happens when she turns 10 she will tell you, "When I am 10 we are getting a bulldog named CARL." So, we will see in 4 more years what comes of this!

Another favorite of Pie Girl is DANCE... and she is quite the little dancer... flexible, coordinated, and fun.

Above all else though, I think her favorite thing is being a TWIN. She loves Mr. V, protects him, includes him, and of course... bosses him! They make a perfect team.

BABY DEL

And for Baby Del... her favorite things... Laughing at her big bro and sis! She enjoys NOT taking a bottle despite our very BEST efforts. And, the biggie... just being HAPPY!

Recent favorite Mr. V story (I know lots have heard it).

Baby Del was watching him and cooing when Pie girl said, "Mr. V, Baby Del is talking to you, talk back to her." So he thought about it for a minute and said to her, "Um... excuse me. Do you like race cars?" And I am pretty sure she will grow up to love race cars just for him. Could he be any sweeter?

Recent favorite Pie Girl story...

Jeff and the twins went to see family over the weekend and because Baby Del has been sick FOREVER, the doctor suggested to keep her home. I was disappointed to miss the trip, but Pie Girl told me, "Don't worry Mom, I will remember all my favorite parts and tell you when I get home." And she did!

Baby Del...

Is rolling all over the place. She laughs at everything (even when she has been sick she hasn't acted sick). She has had bronchitis for almost 6 weeks.... finally on the mend (I hope). She has infant asthma. She goes with the flow. And she is ticklish on every inch of her body.

So, to wrap it up... Life is good!

This was the BEST Santa trip ever!

He knew all about toys! When Mr. V asked for a "criss-cross-crash" in the quietest mumbled voice he could... Santa said, "Ok, I will work on that. Now what car do you want to go with it?" Come on, he knew what he was talking about!!! Pie girl asked for a Pillow Pet, and Santa asked which pillow pet his elves should start working on!

We escaped to Utah for a weekend with just the girls... shopping... eating... Christmas trees... visiting... and The Nutcracker!

I have to give this little guy a lot of credit.

He is particular, but easy going.

He "tects" (protects) our family, especially his sisters. He is sensitive and kind. He is a perfectionist. He can quote movies and hum tunes like a champ. He can name any sea animal and makes awesome whale noises. He loves any car with a spoiler on it, and if we pull up to a "race car" or an old car we have to roll down the windows so he can listen to it... and then does his best imitation of it. (His dad is so proud!)

Everything is black and white with this little guy, right or wrong... no in between. He is a good boy!

He makes me laugh every day. He makes me happy every day.

We spent a fun weekend with the Hoggan boys and Kiki took us to a Butterfly Farm! The kids L-O-V-E-D it and still tell people that the Butterflies drank the watermelon juice!

We learned about caterpillars...

I have no idea how to keep them alive... The excitement of them is almost worn off...

We went for a few weeks to swim lessons... These kids LOVE to swim... still learning not to sink though. A few rounds in the river will do them some good! Here they are at the last day of their lessons, and if I do say so myself... by far the best ones (not biased here, right?)!

I meant Mr. V here. My ocean encyclopedia, train chugger, fruit man, cereal champ. This little guy will literally shake and wiggle his hand if you ask to "shake his hand." When you tell him he is a silly guy, he responds "No, I'm a nice guy."
Now that I have "popped," Mr. V is a little more willing to believe there is a baby in Mommy's tummy. If you ask him what her name will be... he answers "Armadillo."

"my tooth broke"

So on Friday we saw that his tooth was loose, weird! Did he knock it? He kept telling us "my tooth broke."

Saturday we noticed it was a little looser!

Sunday woke up missing a tooth and a new tooth poking through! (and no the tooth fairy didn't come... we can't find the tooth.... unless she came and pulled it out while he was sleeping!??!?!)

Now, isn't he super young for this? Only 4 1/2! Shouldn't this all start in a year or two? Are the awkward years of huge teeth in a tiny kid starting?

I have to admit... I am loving this toothless grin!

So another post... it has been a fun month for us! We headed out to the Pumpkin Patch with the kids, but didn't get too many pictures WITH the pumpkins or come home with one! Too many fun rides to go on (and don't forget daddy's love of the petting zoo).

Dr. Doolittle

I have started to call him Dr. Doolittle, the Dog Whisperer, the Vet... This man loves his animals, the only problem is he married someone who likes animals only if they belong to someone ELSE. A few examples you ask?

We have random dogs show up at our door... all the time. It doesn't stop there, he will even invite the dog into our back yard until he finds the owner (kind of great because the kids they feel like they owned a dog for an hour).

We pay for petting zoos and he goes in with the kids only to enjoy it more than they do (see pictures provided for evidence).

Ok... and one little nugget boy... My newest nephew baby RAD (yup that is his name... RADman) and boy is he R-A-D! He joined all the girls for our FABULOUS weekend!

I just couldn't take it any longer... The sideburns (what 4 year old has sideburns anyways?!?!) came to a point (notice in the second picture)-a POINT! Something had to be done!
The first picture is after we hair blow dried his hair to make it easier to cut, but it still shows how long it was getting! We were contemplating "Wolverine" for Halloween!

This is our new face when the camera comes out... I am not sure exactly what he is trying to say! His hair after a "hat day" - which was almost every day.

And the finished product... Ahhhhh... still a little long for me on top (I love the "buzz") but always a handsome man with his new (for now) cut!

A few weeks ago we headed to Utah for a VERY short, but very memorable weekend.
Jeff's mom's wedding was short, sweet, and beautiful. We are excited to have another Papa around!

So the twins were in their first Primary Program... and we will just say it was a hit... we're just saying (we are saying it so you think it)! The tortured look on Mr. V's face says just about how the day went for him... less than thrilled. Pie-girl on the other hand took one step into church and the next step straight up on to the stage (can I use the word "stage"?)

Next on the agenda... Mr. V's mop... need a vote on the hair. It is growing on me as it grows on his head although the "sideburns" need a little help if you ask me. His entire life has been a buzz... quick, easy, and no bedhead, so a dream! We get a lot of "his hair looks great!" although I don't know who exactly to believe because most of my friends have been dealt the "kind card" as I like to call it (a card that has NEVER been in MY deck).
We have grammy's wedding in a few weeks and family pictures right after that! So... help!

Oh, and don't worry... your opinions won't weigh too heavily ;) We are just putting some feelers out. We know he is the cutest little guy ever with or without hair!

So... some updates.

School starts next week, and we haven't gone to the river enough, not even close.

The twins still play cat and dog (argh) so much so that we went to the park today and some boys wanted to play with Mr. V but couldn't because Mr. V kept meowing his answer to everything they said until they finally gave up on him!

We bought 2 fish which died the very next morning... the kids didn't even notice.

We are contemplating growing out Mr. V's hair... it is at a stage right now that I just can't stand, but I still think he is the cutest boy on the planet.

Mr. V is loving the Shark Week we have tivo-ed for him... Pie girl does NOT.

Pie Girl has become the friendliest little girl on the planet, everyone is her instant-friend.

Pie girl's new obsessions (new, so besides ice packs) are flash lights and spray bottles.

Oh, and if you are a twin you always have a friend!

So this is Holly and her cute girls. She made the trek out here to spend an entire day at my house while on her vacation! I loved it. Holly and I met at Chapman my freshman year, her senior year sooooo a whopping 11 years ago! Fun to swap stories and catch up... never a dull moment or lull in conversation with Holly.

Oh yeah, thanks for leaving your cats at home!!! Ha!

Mr. V came home from school yesterday looking like this. The first thing he said when I saw him was "Towel wipe it off, Mommy...towel wipe it off!"

The twins are SUPER into playing "dog and cat," it is great when the dog and cat aren't fighting, but I am wondering how many more barks and meows I can hear without screaming! So what do I do? Help the cause...

Reef loves everybody... So my biggest achievement of the visit was Oz's new found love for M-E!!!

It is my last day here (in muggy hot Florida) and I am so so sad! Thanks for a fun visit, cute kids, and lots of girly moments! Love you Ash-bo-bash.
The goal of the visit was to help Ashley before her baby comes in a month, but I think I just wore her out!
